Repayment nights changed Veyra.

Theaters closed early. Factories fell silent. At first, people complained about the dark. Then neighbors carried chairs onto the pavements. Musicians played without amplifiers. Children discovered that mechanical swallows looked like real birds when the towers stopped glowing.

The city produced less during those hours. It noticed more.
