Veyra was the city where no one ran out of time.

Beneath its violet towers, copper Tomorrow Engines hummed. A baker could borrow ten minutes before sunrise. A theater could add an hour after midnight. The borrowed time arrived in a cyan shimmer, and every clock politely moved backward.

People called it progress. Twelve-year-old Nia called it useful.
