The Sky Parade committee requested three hours for brighter fireworks. Shops borrowed a midnight for one more sale. Nia’s father reached for the dial when a customer demanded twelve machines by morning.

Nia covered it with her hand.

“We are sending our hurry to people who never agreed to carry it.”
